PACIFIC STRATEGY

DEFENCE OF THE DOMINION SECRET SESSION OF HOUSE (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. A secret session of the House was held to-night to enable members to hear and discuss the latest developments in connection with the country’s war effort. The discussion is to be continued to-morrow.

During the afternoon meeting the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, said that he proposed at the secret session at night to give a detailed account of the developments in the Pacific, particularly in regard to diplomatic and interdominion representation and the various arrangements for the direction of Allied strategy in the Pacific, as well as matters relating to the defence of New Zealand. This would inevitably and unfortunately take some lime, and he doubted if it would be wise to begin a general discussion that night. The House rose at 9.46 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. to-morrow, when the secret session will be continued. No official report will be issued until the conclusion of the secret sitting.
