DRAMA OF BURMA ROAD Danger, thrills and tense drama have been combined in Universal's recent release, " Burma Convoy," producing one of the most interesting and topical pictures of the season. The new programme at the Empire Theatre to-morrow will be headed by this absorbing film,' which brings home to the public the presentday value of the 700-mile overland route linking Burma and China. The story concerns the lives of those men who defy death in violent form In bringing the munition and food convoys safely along this tortuous road to feed and equip China's soldiers in, their fight for freedom and democracy. Charles Bickford, who is starred with Evelyn Ankers, Frank Albertson and Cecil Kellaway, is featured as the leader of a special squadron of trucks who has made up his mind to return to America. But his plans are suddenly upset by the murder of his brother. The element of romance is introduced by Evelyn Ankers, who plays an important part in the plot to bring the murderers to justice. The terrors of the Burma road are depicted in subsequent events in which a stolen convoy is recovered. Episode four of the serial, "Riders of Death Valley," will also be screened
