Working Well.— King's Toast, who is working well at Riccarton, is now being raced under a lease to Mr H. W. Drewery, who is making, his'first venture as an owner. ";:.;.

, Golden Belle^TheiMr Standfast Ally in A. E. Oldham's! "stable was a bit rattled after a three-furlong sprint yesterday morning. . She has been patiently handled but a fast sprint -obviously upsets her. Doree, the dam of Golden Belle, also produced Princess. Dbreen, Talari ..(dam of Taluta) and was got by Lucullus, from D'Oro, a sister 1 to Desert Gold, Australian Cup.—Since •1921'; horses, Pilliewinkie ; '(9.6) . and Spearfelt (9.13), have won ;the Australian Cup with over 9st. Dual Engagements.—Hearth, Salutation, Eulogist, Military'. Maid Arctic .Dawn, Prince Shad, Winning Flight, Straight Sly Puss, and Miss Clorane each have two engagements at the C.J.C. meeting. The C.J.C. Meeting.—Although the acceptances for. the C.J.C. midsummer meeting represent in a few cases dual engagements, they-will-furnish, an excellent card that should' produce good racing The results will be watched with considerable interest from, this end, no doubt a number of those engaged will race at the Dunedin Cup meeting.

Middle Park Plate.—Since 1884. when the Middle Park Plate was instituted, 35 two-yearVolds-have won. It has required an exceptionally high-class horse such as Gloaming, Glentruln,' .Machine -Gun, Cruciform, or Achilles toi beat two-vear-old under the conditions of the race. Some moderate three-year-olds, have won in a weak field, and. judged by those remaining in this year's race, some trainers do not hold a high opinion of the youngsters in this year's race. > High Caste's Weight.—Apparently the V.R.C. handicapper expects High Caste to go on improving from time to time, as he has allotted the son of Bulandshar 10.3 in the Newmarket Handicap. In order to win, High Caste would have to establish a weight-carrying record for the race Very few horses have won with over 9.0, and the record. weight successfully carried is the 10.2 Greenhne won under in 1930. The New Zealand-bred Soultline won under, 9.11 m 1909, and other winners with over 9.0 are Heroic 9.8 and Gothic 9.10 (won -theyprevious year with 8.10). It will be seen that High Caste is set a task never yet achieved in the history of the race.

At wlngatui.—At Wlngatui yesterday morning the middle of the course proper, inside grass, and sand track were in use for training operations. The going was first class, but perhaps a bit slow owing to a heavy moisture on the grass. A number of horses engaged at Wmton ana booked later for Gore were on the scene. Attorney and Latest Song were kept up to their work when completing five furlongs in lmin lOsec. Sip- Saladin and

Pianiste covered the same ground In lmin... 9 4-ssec. Taxpayer and Tissue finished, together when breaking lmin 2Ssec for six' furlongs.
