BANK CONTROL
THE DOMINION REGULATIONS LONDON, Jan. 26. Sir John Davidson, at the Union Bank annual meeting, in referring to New Zealand and Australian bank control regulations, said: “ How the regulations affect trading banks depends upon the spirit in which they are administered. The net return to shareholders on their funds in this bank is in the neighbourhood of 2 per cent. I trust the authorities will bear that in mind when considering the imposition of burdens on various categories in the community. With the spread of hostilities to the Pacific, the efforts of New Zealand and Australia have been creditable, but still greater efforts are necessary.”
