TREATMENT OF CANCER
TESTS IN AMERICA INJECTIONS OF AVIDIN WASHINGTON, (Rec 7 p.m.) Jan. 5. An entirely new approach to the problem of cancer was reported by Dr Maurice Landi at the annual meeting of the Society of American Bacteriologists. He said that normal cellular growth was based on the delicate balance in the body between a recently discovered and most potent growth, vitamin biotin, and a ehemiral compound named avidin, which had not yet been isolated, but which destroys surplus biotin. Lack" of avidin or excess of biotin seemingly causes pathological cellular growth and probably cancer. In several cases after an injection of avidin symptoms of cancer in test animals entirely ceased.
