SMARTER HATS

RED CROSS NURSES (6.C.) LONDON, Nov. 17. Red. Cross nurses welcomed the other dav the new hats which have been designed for them. Officers are to have a soft pork-pie hat in navy blue felt—a neat, null-on shape which looks smart with modern hairdressing styles. It displaces what nurses called the pudare. to have the natty navy blue cloth peaked caps hitherto reserved for ambulance drivers. It has a small Red Cross badge in front. “The old hats are hideous—worse than the wrens’ Slouched hats, ’ a young Red Cross nurse told an interviewer,. We all dislike the round cloth brimless caps, but we felt that it was a minor detail to fuss 'about just now. Now that the authorities have decided to give us those smart ambulance-driver caps we are delighted.”
