OBSTRUCTING THE POLICE
CHRISTIAN PACIFIST SENTENCED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. " I am satisfied that your object is to interfere with the war effort, and the pretence that you intended to quote Scripture was humbug," said the magistrate, Mr J. Morling, S.M., when sentencing to three months' imprisonment John Victor Riddell, aged 21, an engineer, in the Police ,Court to-day for obstructing the police when he started to address a meeting in the Domain on Sunday afternoon. Riddell, who is a member of the Christian Pacifist Society, pleaded not guilty and conducted his own defence.
