PUBLIC NOTICES EMERGENCY LIGHTING RESTRICTIONS War conditions not only demand strict observance of light Regulations, But further requirements are now necessary. The following additional conditions shall now be enforced:— (1) No lights in shops or shop windows or elsewhere shall be left on time switch control. Where there is no person in attendance on the premises to operate switches, all lighting shall remain switched off. (2) No cars shall be left .standing with any light showing at any point in a road or street which is directly visible from the open sea. (3) In skyglow areas, that is, those areas not directly visible from the open sea, every room lighted at night time must have window blinds fully drawn over each window and fanlight. It should be noted that requirement No. 3 applies to ALL windows, etc., whether seen from the sea or not. No. 2 applies to all vehicles, at any point seen from the sea, whether in Parking Light Area, Headlight Restriction Area, or otherwise. SEASIDE BACHES, ETC.—These must be treated exactly the same 'as houses, and the owner is equally responsible with tenant to see that windows, etc., are effectively screened, the owner providing the means for such screening, etc., on or before December 15, 1941. The following order has been issued by the Dominion Lighting Controller:— (1) The owner of any seaside abode (of whatever kind and whether moveable or fixed to the soil), before giving possession hereafter of the whole or any part thereof to any other person or persons, shall fit or provide for window, fanlight, skylight, glazed door or othef similar thing therein a screen or blind which will comply with the requirements of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations, 1941. I (2) The owner of any seaside abode (of whatever kind and whether moveable or fixed to the soil), having already , given possession of the whole or any Dart thereof to any other person or persons for a period extending be- , yond the 15th day of December, 1941, ' shall, on or before that date, fit or provide for window, fanlight, skylight, glazed door or other similar thing therein with a screen or blind which will comply with the requirements of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations, 1941. (3) Such owner shall thereafter maintain all.screens or blinds In good repair and condition for use by all persons .»occupying or who may occupy such seaside abode. (4) For the purposes of this order "owner" means the person who lets the abode for short periods whether he be the true owner or a lessee or other tenant of the true owner. (5) "Abode" includes any building, house, bach, caravan, tent or structure, whether or not completely enclosed, whether permanently sited or moveable and irrespective of the materials of which it is made that is used for holiday accommodation. (6) " Seaside abode" means any abode that may be sited for the night within sight of the open sea or that might be seen with aided vision from a point 150 feet above the open sea or that might if its windows are not suitably screened contribute to skyglow that might be so seen.
