HIGHLAND COMPETITION
A piping and Highland and national dancing competition under the auspices of the Otago Centre Of the Piping anti Dancing Association was held in the R.S.A. Social Hall on Saturday evening. The judge of the piping was Mr C. B. Walker, and Miss May Wilson judged the dancing. There was strong competition in all events, and the following are the results:— Piping.—Junior Marches; James Robertson I, Malcolm Morrison 2, Ken Christiansen 3. Novice Marches; Dick Jobes 1, Angus MacMillan, jun., 2, William Beecand 3.
Dancing.—Highland Fling (under eight years): Norma Taylor 1, June Smith 2, Helen Wheeler 3. Highland Fling (under 10'years): Norma Taylor 1, June Ryan 2, Noelibe Bichan 3. Sword Dance (under Hi) years): Norma Taylor 1, June Smith 2, Noeline Bichan 3. Seann Triubhais (under 12 years): May Galvin 1, Daphne Baxter 2, June Tregilgus 3. Irish Jig (under 12 years): Daphne Baxter 1, Isob’el Gray 2, May Galvin 3. Highland Fling (under 15 years): Pat Reid 1, Shirley Smith 2, Leola Robertson 3. Sailor's Hornpipe (under 15 years): Dorothy Baxter 1, Shirley Smith 2, Leola Robertson 3.
