A heavy explosion wrecked an lowa ordnance’ plant to-day, destroying a shell-loading unit and killing nine workmen and injuring 20 others. About 50 men were employed in a threestorey structure which was used for melting T.N.T. before mixing with other ingredients in shells and bombs.
