PRODUCTION IN AMERICA PREVENTION OF STRIKES (Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 13. > The White House announced that • conference will be held on December 17 of 12 leading industrialists and 12 Labour representatives to formulate a programme of increased defence production and prevention of strikes and lock-outs. Mr Roosevelt appealed to the conference first to eliminate labour disputes and second, to define labour management and practices to secure the maximum production of war needs. The industrialists include Mr Lawrence Bell, of the Bell Corporation, and Mr Wilson, of the General Electric Company. The labour representatives include Mr John L. Lewis (president of the Miners’ Federation), Mr William Green (president of the American Federation of Labour), and Mr Phillip Murray (head of the C. 1.0.). ‘ *
