SEA CADET CORPS
PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The final parade of the year of the Navy League Sea Cadet Corps annual presentation of prizes were held in the corps headquarters, Dowling street, las* night, the commanding officer, Commander F. Fraser, R.N.ViR., presiding, over a large attendance of cadets and visitors. Commander Fraser, addressing the boys, stated that the training they had' received during the past year would stand them in good stead in the future, and he urged them to coninue to fit themselves for service for their country when the time came. Commander Fraser.also thanked the Dunedin City Council and the\Dunedin Savings Bank for the valuable assistance they had given the corps. The Deputy Mayor, Mr D. C. Cameron, replied on behalf of the City Council and the Dunedin Savings Bank and. expressed admiration of the work the corps was doing, and Mr J. Sutherland Ross, president of the Navy League, also congratulated the boys on the high standard they had achieved. . ■ . The following prizes were presented by Commander Fraser: —Commercial travellers' medal for the best all-round rating for 1941, Cadet R. Proctor; Devonshire Cup for seamanship. Starboard Watch Cadet P. O. Wilson; Brown, Ewing signalling trophv for most progressive signaller for'l94l. Signaller C. H. Wilson; best attendance at parades for 1941, Cadet R. Moody: Sutherland Ross Trophy for best cadet in boat work. Cadet Acting Leading Seaman D. Matheson. At the conclusion of the formal business, a social evening was held.
