WARNING FROM BRITAIN ULTIMATUM TO FINLAND MUST WITHDRAW TROOPS LONDON, Dec. 4. Reports, apparently originating from Helsinki, stated that Britain presented an ultimatum to Finland, expiring at midnight on December 5.
Unless there is a sudden and unexpected change, Britain will declare war on Finland, Rumania and Hungary within a day or two, possibly in the next few hours, says the diplomatic correspondent of The Times. The three Governments were finally warned' a week ago that they would be regarded as enemies unless they ■topped fighting for Germany, but no replies have been received. Britain could postpone action only if Finland gave a clear guarantee to withdraw completely from the war against Russia.
THE NOTE REJECTED (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 5. A Vichy News Agency despatch from Helsinki jtates that Finland rejected Britain's Note of December 1 demanding the withdrawal of her troops before December 5 to the 1939 frontiers.
