PAPAL ENVOY BEATEN
MISTAKEN FOR PARACHUTIST INCIDENT IN RUMANIA 1 ANKARA, Dec. 4. According to Rumanian diplomatic quarters in Ankara, the Rumanians' nerves,are getting more and more on edge, and as the news of the great Russian advance in the sc'uth leaks through the growing fears of what may happen to Germany's allies are revealed. As an instance of the tension, the Papal Envoy to Rumania, who recently disappeared, was found beaten up and unconscious in the woods near Siniai, the Rumanian royal summer residence.
When he recovered he told the police that he was out walking when a group of peasants armed with clubs attacked him. thinking he was a Russian parachutist.
