Barrett), is rapidly be?coming an efficient unit, apd the;meihjj bers have beeri receiving practical training in their duties on various occasions during the past few months. Parades are neld each Tuesday even* ing at 7.30, the meeting place, being the Traffic Department office in Municipallane. An interesting> syllabus of lectures dealing with the duties of traffic officers, and the work of other units of the Emergency Precautions Scheme> has been drawn up for next year.- • ' On Friday nights and Saturday mornings memberyS are given -the opportunity of becoming. proficient ill the controlling of traffic: .Under the control of the city traffic officers, they.receive instruction in traffic control at various street intersections. Instruction is also given- in first aid and stretcher drill, and all members are exr pected to become proficient in ?<thii work. ' ■■ ■ '. ■ .'" Application for membership in the, unit should be made to the traffic offlrtf Municipal lane; Town Hall. On Tuesday next the unit will hold ja smoke concert in the Harrop Street Hair at 8 p.m., when intending members will be welcomed.
