THE PETROL RATION
NO REDUCTION PROPOSED MINISTER DENIES RUMOURS (P A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 5. There is no truth in the rumours circulating to-day that all petrol allowances, special licences, and coupons for petrol for private use are to be cancelled for a period. Issuing a denial to-day, the Minister. of Supply. Mr D. G. Sullivan, said the present system would continue, and rumours that the cancellation of licences or a drastic reduction was proposed should be entirely disregarded. "Of course," the Minister said, "if the situation in the Pacific deteriorates the whole position in regard to petrol consumption will necessarily have to be reviewed."
