THE BOYS' HIGH SCHOOLS' BOUNDARIES
> TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—l always understood that the members of the Otago High Schools' Board are supposed to sit and collaborate, with one < purpose in mind, that of dealing out justice to each of the three schools they control. The question of boundaries has been threshed out by them, and, in their wisdom, they have decided that there is to be no alteration of boundaries for pupils to; attend the King's High School and the Otago Boys' High School. How evident it is that the i"old school tie" predoriiinates. As the board is constituted at present, I venture to state that, it is not likely that the King's High School will ever get a* fair deal, for all the deliberations will be dealt with, with one point predominant—Does it affect the Otago Boys' High School prejudicially? • Is this justice? Why did the King's High School ever come into being? At present, for one purpose only, to take a few pupils for whom room cannot be found in the. Otago Boys' High School. Why did the Government authorise such expenditure when such is the position? Behind it all, does there not loom up this fact—that the members of the High Schools' Board, composed mostly of veterans ,pf the ''old school tie," are not broad enough in ■ outlook to see beyond their own school? I assure you, Sir, that this matter will be taken up in every channel possible until justice is meted out. Let all the boys .in future who enrol at the Otago Boys' High School have a test examination, and let all the failures be sent to King's High, irrespective of boundaries, for I think that in this suggestion is summed up the treatment of the board towards the King's am, etc., Indignant.
