INNOVATION AT FORBURY PARK. —The dividend indicator which will be used at the Forbury Park Trotting Club s meeting on Saturday and Monday. The numbers across the top and bottom of the indicator correspond with the numbers allotted to the horses in the race book. The numbers running down are £ symbols, and the graduated marks between these figures on the greater portion of the indicator represent 5s units; Two ribbons of distinctive colours, one white and the other yellow', are worked up and down between the numbeis of the horses. The bottom of the white ribbon indicates what a horse is paying on the place machine, and the bottom of the yellow ribbon what the same horse is paying on the win machine. Under the “Forbury system” of betting, two dividends are paid on the win machine in the proportion of 75 per cent, and 25 per cent. Consequently to arrive at the dividend paid on the win machine by the second horse, it is necessary to divide the dividend indicated by three. On the very rare occasions on which the place dividend exceeds the win dividend, the yellow ribbon does not show-.
