TE AKAU MYSTERY

SOLDIER STILL MISSING There has been no further trace of Private Douglas Neil Henry, aged 22, single, of Te Akau, Soutft Auckland, since his disappearance on the night of September 23. The parent and relatives of the missing man now offer a substantial reward to any person who can disclose information leading to his discovery. . _ . Anxiety for the safety of Private Henry, who is 6ft 6in in height and weighs over 16 stone, was first felt when he failed to return home after visiting some nearby friends on the evening of September 23. Private Henry, who was a member of the Expeditionary Force, had been granted leave by the Man-power Committee the same day as a result of his father's death. When he left the home of his friends at Te Akau, he appeared to be in good health with no apparent worry. The next morning his car was found abandoned in a ditch on the road to his home.

In spite of a widespread search by 200 police, territorials and residents of the district, no trace was found. Inquiries over many parts of the Dominion have proved fruitless.
