GESTURE TO DUNEDIN
, MAYOR cV WELLINGTON WELCOME TO MR DUFF COOPER (Special) WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. A fine gesture from Wellington to Dunedin was made by the Mayor of Wellington, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, when, in extending a civic reception to Mr A. Duff Cooper and Lady Diana Duff Cooper to-day, he included a ! welcome on behalf of Dunedin, because in the limited time at his disposal Mr Duff Cooper was unable to visit the principal Scottish settlement. Mr Hislop said he took this action as a descendant of one of Dunedin's early settlers. Mr Duff Cooper said he was sorry he had not time to extend further his wanderings in the Dominion. His tour was not one of pleasure, or even principally intended to include all the cities in this part of the world. He had an object in view and a very limited number of days at his disposal. When in Australia he had been unable to visit Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Mr Duff Cooper added that he was sure that if he had visited Dunedin it would not have cost him any more than his visit to Christchurch, which had cost nothing.
