MONTHLY REPORTS A recommendation that the tender of Messrs William McLellan, Ltd., be accepted for alterations and additions to the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium is contained in the report of the Sanatorium Committee of the Otago Hospital Board, to be submitted to the meeting of the board on Thursday night. The report also states that application has been made to the Minister of Internal Affairs for a grant from the proceeds of an art union for the provision of a library service at the sanatorium, and possibly later at the Wakari Hospital. The Hospital Committee recommends that an offer of a Fritz Kuhla piano for use at the Nurses' Home be accepted. The Finance Committee recommends that the laundry building should be extended to meet existing and future requirements, and that the architects be instructed to invite tenders for the work after the approval of the pr§posal has been received from the Minister. The report of the Finance Committee also states that an intimation has been received from the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company of New Zealand. Ltd., that the sum of £25 is available for distribution in terms of the will of Mr James A. L. Richmond. This has been accepted with thanks, and will be disbursed as previously. The Dempsey trustees have forwarded the sum of £ls, the report adds, for the benefit of the children 1 in the Victoria and Jubilee wards' of the Dunedin Hospital and the Prince Edward Children's Convalescent Home at Christmas, and £l2 10s towards the provision of extra comforts for mothers and expectant mothers in the Queen Mary Maternity Hospital, and these have been.accepted with thanks. The medical superintendent has been requested to report on the gift to the children, and instructions have been given as to the distribution of other gifts as was done last year.
