GOOD COMPANIONS' TRAMPING CLUB

With a long trip before them, a small party set oft from the Kaikorai terminus shortly after 10 o'clock last Sunday morning. Under the capable leadership of Miss D. O'Donnell, with only the fitter members attending, the group made good time to the first halt —the site of the old sanatorium—where the billy was boiled. The way then led northwards from McQuilkan's, along the back of Flagstaff, across Swampy Valley, to the Silver Peaks. Having reached the objective, a short halt was called, in spite of the fact that the party had passed from bright sunshine into heavy rain. The return journey was accomplished by means of the Sawmill track. Once on the Leith Valley road, the journey home was without incident.
