ANOTHER MYSTERY VOICE
8.8. C. INTERRUPTED “ THROW CHURCHILL OUT ” LONDON, Oct. 31."" British Tisteners-in, who for weeks enjoyed the joke of the “ ghost voice ” cutting in on Axis broadcasting, tonight had their own “ghost.” The cultured tones of a deep voice interjected during the programme for the forces: “ Don’t listen to the 8.8. C. We don’t want this National Government." The programme was continued, obviously in ignorance of the interjections, which went on: “Do you know how much money Churchill gets from the Jews? He has lost you the Empire. Throw Churchill out." Then later: “We are being swindled, led up the garden path, and sold to America. We don’t want an American Government. We want a people’s Government.” Derogatory remarks about Mr Eden followed, then comments about food supplies. In a 1 broadcast interview a woman was asked: “How do you like service life? ” and the intruder replied: “ Nasty, rotten, horrible.” The intruder faded out to a faint background just before 9 p.m., but reappeared to “ crash ” the 9 o’clock news. Comment after the announcement that further dominion troops had arrived in Britain was: “Poor fellows, they no longer want to fight for Britain.'* The 8.8. C. has no doubts that the intruder was a German. The 8.8. C so far has not intruded on German programmes, but has apparatus powerful enough for reprisals. 8.8. C. ANNOUNCEMENT (Rec, 8 p.m.) RUGBY, Oct, 13. Interruptions by the “ ghost voice ” during British broadcast programmes to-night caused the 8.8. C. to make the following announcement:—” If you have been listening to some programmes on 449 or 391 metres you may have heard a great deal of interference. This was due to action by an enemy transmitter." Similar announcements were made with reference to interference on other wave-lengths. ROME NEWS INTERRUPTED "SOLD TO A FOREIGNER" (Rec. 11.15 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 14. “ Why have you sold Italy to a foreigner? ” asked a voice during the Rome radio news commentary. The interrupter later told the commentator: “Thou art making propaganda for Goebbels.”
