DEFENCE CONTRACTS
PROFITS IN AMERICA PROPOSED LIMITATION (Rec. 0.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 7. Introducing a Bill imposing a 7 per cent, limit on the net profit in virtually all defence contracts, Mr A. N. Vinson assailed as unconscionable the profits of some naval contractors. He said the House Naval Committee's investigation showed that, while most of the contractors were realising a fair profit, some made 247 per cent. The House rejected by 69 votes to 25 a move to withhold aid to the Soviet under a Bill expanding the lending authority of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation by 15,000,000 dollars.
