ENEMY SHIPPING LOSSES SEVERAL'SUNK OR DAMAGED RUGBY, Oct. 7. An Admiralty communique states:— " Eleven more enemy ships have been sunk or hit by torpedoes and seriously damaged by submarines in the Mediterranean. An Italian torpedo boat of 635 tons, of the Generi class, and a supply ship of about 3500 tons have been torpedoed and sunk. An Italian guard vessel and a sailing vessel laden with Italian troops were sunk. A tanker of about 6000 tons was hit by torpedoes and left seriously on fire, with a heavy list. Another tanker—the Italian Liri (5900 tons)— was torpedoed and seriously damaged. Two transports of about 5000 tons, one large supply ship, and two mediumsized supply ships were also hit by torpedoes. These five ships were certainly l:it, and must have been at least seriously damaged. Conditions, however, did hat allovtf' bur submarines to ascertain beyond doubt which of these enemy vessels was actually sunk."
