ANNUAL CROSS-COUNTRY
BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL EVENT
Seventy runners faced the starter in the Otago Boys' High School annual crosscountry race, which was held yesterday afternoon. The race began at the Littlebourne ground, and then followed a course along the Queen's Drive to the Maori Hill football ground, turning into Highgate and down Claremont street, back to the starting point. The distance was approximately three miles and a-half. A second-year pupil, T. E. Wilson, who was in receipt of three minutes from the scratch runner, D. Ashton, was the first man home, followed by R. J. Gilbert, 100 yards further back. R. B. Seddon (Jmin) completed the course in 17 minutes 15 seconds, to gain fastest time, and D Ashton (scr) gained second fastest time. The results were as follows:—T. E Wilson (3min), 18min 17£sec, 1; R. J. Gilbert (3rrrin). 18min 42sec, 2; K. Middleton (2Jmin), 18min 26sec, 3: S. L. Jelley (4min), 19min 56sec, 4; C. Marshall (2min) 18min, 5; C. D. Edgar (4min), 20min 2sec. 6: F. Weedon (ljmin). 17min 53sec, 7; O. C. Moller (2hT)in), 18min 47sec, 8: R. Bruce (2min), 18min 4Gsec. 9; F. V. Doidge (ljmin). 18min 14sec, 10. Fastest time: R B. Seddon (Jmin), 11. 17min 15sec, 1; D.
