ENTRY TO PROFESSIONS

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH GREATER PROVISION URGED (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 8. A request that the Prime Minister, Mr P. Praser. should introduce legislation to allow the sons and daughters of soldiers and civilians to be trained for the professions, such as the medical, chemistry, architectural and engineering professions, was made in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) in association with Mr W. E. Barnard (Democratic Labour, Napier). Mr Lee asked that training should be allowed to the extent of a number necessitated by the requirements of the people, and with such economic aid as was now given to trainees for the teaching profession, so that in the Prime Minister's own words, the terms of the Atlantic Charter of President Roosevelt and Mr Churchill might be wr.itten into legislation.
