AMERICAN WORKERS

ATTITUDE TO THE WAR (Rec. 1 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 25. A big congress of the Industrial Organisations and Municipal Workers’ Union, by a vote of 183 to 7, adopted a resolution defining the destruction of Hitler as America’s No. 1 goal, and calling for a torrent of assistance for Britain, Russia and China. The union rejected a proposed ban on a second American expeditionary force. The union’s decision is regarded as an important indication of the attitude which can be expected at a forthcoming powerful national convention of the Congress of Industrial Organisations.
