CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS MESSAGE FROM THE KING (Rec. 7 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 23. The King sent the following congratulatory message to the Rajah of Sarawak' 11 1 should like to convey to your Highness my congratulations on* the centenary of the State of Sarawak and express to you and the people of Sarawak my best wishes for your future prosperity.” Lord Moyne, the Colonial Secretary, also telegraphed on behalf of the Government; “ On the occasion of the present centenary celebrations in the State of Sarawak, X am happy to convey to your Highness the good wishes of his Majesty s Government. The policy of the rulers of the State has from the first been guided by the needs and interest of the peoples whose homeland is Sarawak and I know the high degree of affection it has won from them. His Majesty’s Government shares with your Government the desire that your territory and the peoples of Sarawak may continue in prosperity under your Highness’s rule.” Coincident with the centenary of Sarawak, an order is being promulgated to end absolute rule and introducing constitutional government.
