DUTCH EAST INDIES

INDUSTRIES STIMULATED BATAVIA, Sept. 17. The industries of the Netherlands East Indies have been greatly stimulated as the result of the war and the economic measures against Japan. It is learned that negotiations are going on in the United States and London concerning the delivery of tools and material for Samarang’s shipbuilding yard, whicn will be started in 1942 and will turn out four 10,000-ton vessels every year. The newly-established coarse and fine spinning mills will soon be operating, which will help to replace Japanese textiles. A Sourabaya factory is now manufacturing matches, partly replacing Japanese matches.
