CONCILIATION COUNCIL

AERATED WATER EMPLOYEES The conciliation commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) was engaged yesterday morning in hearing, an industrial dispute concerning the Otago and SouthInad aerated water employees’ award. The assessors for the union were Messrs W. C. McDonnell (agent), T. D. Valentine, D. Wight, and J. Clark, and for the employers Messrs B. C. Abernethy. W. G. Lane, J. S, Thomson, and A. S. Cookson (agent). A settlement was reached on all matters other than the rates of wages. This question was held over pending further consideration. The settlement in the main follows the terms and conditions of the present award. The commission congratulated the agent for the union on the concise manner in which'the claims had been submitted, as they showed clearly only matters that were really in dispute. As a consequence, there was a considerable saving in (he time of the council.
