The approval of the Minister of Health (Mr Nordmeyer) was also received. The estimated cost was stated to be £8961. It was decided to authorise the construction of the building. Heating for Milton Hospital Mr Potter read a letter he had written to the board under date July 16 giving the result of a visit of inspection he had made .to the Milton Hospital at the request, and in company with Dr Edgar It was found that the system of heating the building was unsatisfactory. Because they wore clogged, the hot water radiators were not acting satisfactorily. He had in consequence formed the opinion that at least six electric heaters were required. The nurses’ quarters were not heated or wired for electric heating. The linen cupboards had insufficient shelving. The electric heaters that were in use were of a very antiquated pattern. A long discussion -followed and at one stage it was proposed that the board should go into committee to discuss the engineer’s report. Mr Potter objected to this, but the motion was carried with three dissentients. _ On resuming in open meeting it was decided to install four electric heaters immediately.. V., •
