Miller’s Flat.—Mrs S. H. Wingfield presided. The eleventh birthday was celebrated by a “ Remembering our boys” afternoon, to which were invited mothers, sisters, and wives of men who have enlisted from the district. Photographs and gifts from overseas were on view. Items were given by children trained by Mrs W E. Mudge. Sprigs of rosemary tied with dainty red, white and blue streamers were presen led to the guests of honour, who included: Mesdames Fahey. G. Peters, Faigan, R. Campbell, J, Campbell, Morrison. Tyrie, Mosley, A. Paterson, J. Simpson, Gilligan. T. J. McDonald. Misses D. McGonigal, D. Moir, and H. Brown; and from Ettrick, Mrs J. Morrow, Mrs F. Weatherall. Mrs Bloxham, and Mrs C. P. Hainsworth. Livingstone.—-Mrs Barnes presided Competition: Bloom—Mrs Clark 1, Mrs R. C. Cook 2 and Mrs Barnes 3. A competition given by Mrs R. C. Cook was won by Mrs Samuelson. Hostess; Mrs R. C. Cook ' Middlemarch.—Mrs B. Thompson presided. Talk: Miss Beattie, “Rearing chickens.” Recipes for chicken cookery, Mrs M. A. Matheson. Mrs Thompson spoke on “ Home Nursing," and practice was given in bandaging. Hostesses, Mrs Kidd and Mrs Leckie, Bannockburn. —Mrs Crombie (vicepresident) presided. Roll call: “A laundry hint.” Competition: Something new from something old —Mrs Stewart 1, Mrs Henderson 2. Miss Robertson 3. A parcel of skull caps was sent forward for the soldiers. Hostesses: Mesdames Henderson and Rutherford.
