SOUTH AFRICAN IMPORTS
RESTRICTIONS PROBABLE EXCESSIVE BUYING FROM JAPAN JOHANNESBURG, (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) June 17. The Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr R. Stuttaford, declared: "We are buying excessively from Japan. The public should purchase all necessary imports from the sterling area, giving the United Kingdom all possible trade. It may be necessary to apply restrictions and discourage the demand for American dollars and Japanese yen."
