Laughs and thrills are plentiful in " Michael Shayne, Private Detective," which will open at the Grand Theatre today. Lloyd Nolan has the leading male role and Marjorie Weaver plays a spoiled rich girl with a penchant for gambling, while Joan Valerie is seen as a •' big-shot " gambler's daughter. Walter Abel is a crooked race track operator, and Elizabeth Patterson plays an amusing "arm chair " detective. Donald Mcßride has the role of the explosive " Chief Painter," and Douglas Dumbrille is seen as a bigshot gambler. Assigned as bodyguard to wealthy Marjorie Weaver. Lloyd Nolan gets into one of the toughest cases ever presented a detective. When a murderer strikes, suspects and motives are interwoven into one of the most involved and perplexing mystery patterns ever seen on the screen. The associate feature is " Romance of the Rio Grande," starring Ricardo Cortez and Cesar Romero.
