MUSIC TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION
STUDENTS’ CLUB Begg's salon was filled to capacity on Saturday evening when the M. T. A. Students’ Club presented its first open recital. Mr G. W. Johnstone, who presided, expressed regret that it was hot possible to accommodate all who desired to be present. He said that the chib was functioning well against a mental and spiritual “ black-out,’’ and that was a matter of importance in the lives of ita members. They were also thinking of others, as was demonstrated by the fact that the receipts from the recital (£l2) would go to some overseas soldiers’ fund. The programme presented was rich in variety and interest, and obviously captivated the .audience whose spontaneous applause was a sincere tribute to the talented young people and the manner in which they had presented their delightful music. Those who contributed _to the programme were: Misses Ailsa, Poulter. Marion Allan. Kathleen Allan. Frances Clark.: Edith Turnbull, Ruth Stewart, Betty Joel, Jenny Mearns, Joan Stewart. Thelma Thomson. Mary Hall. Betty Malthus. Irene Adamson. Lucy Robertson. Clara Rouse. June Holmes. Heather Mclntyre and Mavis Steel, and Messrs William Clarke. Gavin Bartlett. Donald Ross. Laurie Scott, Walter Metcalf and William Laing.
