BALCLUTHA Games Postponed.—Owing to the rain on Saturday morning, it was decided to postpone all football fixtures in South Otago, and also the local golf match. Personal.—The South Otago Hospital Board at its last meeting passed a motion of appreciation of the services of the two members who had not been re-elected, Messrs A. Rennie and Alex. Renton. It was mentioned that Mr Rennie had served on the board continuously for a period of between 16 and 17 years, and had particularly interested himself in connection with the building of the Saltzman block at the Balclutha Hospital for the treatment of tuberculosis patients. Mr Renton, although he had only sat for one term, had also done good work. The secretary was instructed to send letters expressing the board’s appreciation to each of the two ex-members. MILTON” Parade Postponed.—The Home Guard all-day parade, which was to have been held at Toko Mouth on Sunday, was postponed owing to the weather and the fact that the “ bar ” was on at the mouth of the river. Personal.—Mr Ivor Lange, an employee of the Bruce Woollen Mills, who is a member of the Australian Air Force Reserve, will leave shortly for Australia to join the Australian Air Force. At the morning service at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday the Rev. S. T. Nicholls presented him with a testament from the congregation. Opportunity was taken by the Mayor, Mr W. J. Cockburn, to present him with a pocket wallet on behalf of the citizens. Killed in Action.—The death is announced on active service of Private Erie Graham Harvey, son of Mrs M. J. Harvey, of Moneymore. The deceased, who was 30 years of age, was born at West Taien and educated at Moneymore.
