NEW CHIEF SCOUT
LETTER TO GOVERNOR-GENERAL ~i The new Chief Scout of the British Empire, Lord S.omers, has written the following letter to the Dominion Chief Scout, Sir Cyril Newall:— "I have now heard from the-domin-ions and colonies that they have appointed me to succeed our founder. Lord Baden-Powell, 'as Chief Scout of the British Empire. Would you kindly fell your Scouts,'' he writes., "how gratified we are at -Home'-"•for 'this further wonderful evidence of unity in pur great family, and how sensible T am personally of the confidence they have placed in me to carry on and extend the great work of our association.
"It will be my earnest endeavour to preserve and strengthen the fundamental truths and ideals on which •B. P.' built up'his family," he continued, "and to widen its scope so as to embrace more and more boys in all parts of the British Commonwealth." ; •
