STATION MASTER RETIRES
MR E. A. NEWMAN’S SERVICE SUCCEEDED BY MR H. SIMMONDS The station master at Dunedin, Mr E. A. Newman, retired on superannuation on May 31, and is to be succeeded by Mr H. Simmonds, station master at Taumarunui. Mr Newman, who has served for some time in Dunedin. was chief clerk and assistant station master here prior to being transferred to Invercargill as station master. He returned to Dunedin about two years ago. Mr Simmonds has been stationed in the Auckland district for some years, having been station master at Paevoa, and recently traffic inspector for the district. He is well known throughout the Dominion as a champion rifle shot. In 1924 he won the Champion Rifle Belt, and in 1924 and the following year look the Service Championship. He also won the Grand Aggregate Prize in 1924. 1925, and 1926, and in 1931 he took the Rifle Challenge Cup.
