BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S CLUB

At the fortnightly meeting of the Dunedin Business and Professional Women’s Club, held in Tudor Hall oh •Monday, various items of business were discussed, including knitting for soldiers and help in canteen work at the Services Club. ’ The speaker for the evening was Dr A. H. McLintock, who made an absorbing subject of “The ‘lfs’ of History." In turning the wheels of history Dr McLintock pointed to important links in the chain of events. If Julius Caesar had not loved Cleopatra, Rousseau had not been a wanderer on the face of the earth, Alexander the Great had lived another 10 years, William the Conquerer had met a different reception in England, and King John had not signed the Magna Carta how different history might have read. Dr McLintock proved the study in possibilities to be limitless and -fascinating. This intensely interesting address, which seemed all too brief, was thoroughly appreciated, and Miss M. Hensley proposed a vote of thanks on behalf of the club.
