NAVY LEAGUE NOTES
Those who heard Captain Tether’s interesting address at the annual meeting of the Navy League will be glad to know that at a recent executive meeting it was decided to send the next large consignment of comforts overseas expressly
for the merchant navy. All gifts and work should be marked “ Navy League,” have the sender’s name and address enclosed or on the outside of the parcel, and may be sent either direct to Mrs Sutherland Ross, “Broomhill,” Roslyn, or left at Messrs Ross and Glendining, Ltd., High street. If a message to the seamen is sent, it should be sewn on the inside of the garment, as otherwise it might become detached in packing. Cakes, books, sweets and games are continually being wanted for ships in port. The following are thanked for their gifts and work, sent in June 5-12:—The Girls’ High School, Owaka Patriotic Committee, Karitane Workers’ Bee, Mesdames W. E. Bagley, Bennett,. Cox, R. Duncan, Garrett, Hall, Hemsley, Ingram, Levy, Lord (Nelson), Macdonald, G. McPherson, W. J. Meek, Morgan, E. Ramsay, Shrimpton, Treurn, Wilkinson, Wishart and Pringle (Milton). Misses Bagley, F.
