TREATMENT AND RESPONSE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 12. Speaking in the Imprest Supply debate in the House of Representatives to-night, Mr J. Thorn (Govt., Thames) said that members of the Opposition and the press tried to convey the impression that the workers through their laziness and strikes were paralysing the industry of this country. He gave statistics relating to recent strikes, showing that comparatively little time had been lost as a result of strikes. There were two ways of dealing with (he workers, Mr Thorn said. One was by bullying or threats, and that was Hitler’s way. The other was by treating the workers as human beings, and it would be found that if this method were adopted the workers would respond readily.
