ANOTHER STRIKE
ALUMINIUM WORKERS PLANE PRODUCTION DELAYED CLEVELAND, June 10. A strike of 6500 workers at five aluminium plants threatens widespread delay to aircraft production. The New York Post says: “There is no. doubt that this strike was called without warning under leadership influenced and dominated by Communism. While every effort is being made by the Mediation Board to reach a settlement the strike has bottle-necked plane production, and is more serious to national defence than all the other strikes.” The War Department has asked Congress to postpone the Property Seizure Bill in order to permit the speedy passage of legislation giving the President statutory authority to deal with strikes. SETTLEMENT ANNOUNCED WAGE INCREASES GRANTED WASHINGTON, (Rec. 11 p.m.) June 10. The Mediation Board has announced a settlement of the Aluminium Company strike at Cleveland. Six thousand workers were granted wage incresses. , The aviation factory strike in Los Angeles ended after .the union had announced that its demands for resumption had been met, including the withdrawal of the army. THE MEDIATION BOARD ULTIMATUM TO UNION WASHINGTON. (Rec. 8 p.m.) June 10. The Defence Mediation Board sent an ultimatum to union leaders and officials of the Aluminium Company of America that they must end the strike immediately or face army intervention.
