Mr J. W. Munro, M.P., left for Wellington by the through express yester-. day. Major E. E. Lloyd, G.S.O. 11., is at present in Dunedin on official business. Advice has been received that Lieutenant' A. M. Quennell, Corppral F. O. Geering, Lance-corporal Thomas Graham Privates J. Spedding.A. Feathers (Oamaru), and Driver E. Paris are safe and well. . The Rev. H. A. Mitchell, Presbyterian padre with the forces, who recently returned from Fiji, left for the north by the through express yesterday to go into camp again. A Press Association cable message from London states that Sir Allan Cuthbert Maxwell Burns has been appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Gold Coast in succession to Sir A. W. Hbdson.

At a meeting of directors of the. New Zealand Shipping Company, held in Christchurch yesterday. Sir Robert Anderson, of Invercargill, was elected chairman of the New Zealand Board of the companv in place of the late Mr George Gould, who had been chairman since 1923. . The vacancy on the board was filled by the appointment of Mr T. J. Maling. of Christchurch. , Northbound passengers by plane yesterday were Mr H. E. Perry for Christchurrh, Mr P. Dalliessi, Mr B. L. Hammond. Mr L, H. Brown. Mr T. C. Coull, and Dr and Mrs W. H. Thompson for Wellington. Miss J. Elwood for Auckland. Southbound passengers in the afternoon were Mrs A. M. Hall frpm Auckland. Mr K. Clarke and Mr G. N. Guthrie frojn Wellington, Dr J. L. Will, Mrs E. H. Smith and Miss S. Slyfield from Christchurch.
