"COMFORTS FOR FIGHTERS" APPEAL
RETAIL SECTION'S ACTIVITIES At a meeting of the retail section of the "Comforts for Fighters" Fund June Appeal Committee, held on Monday and presided over by Mr L. A. Doolan, the following functions, in addition to those already announced, were reported to have been arranged:— To-day.—Dug-out to be stocked and staffed by Brpwn, Ewing and Co'. June 12.—Card party in Messrs Dreaver's store. June' 17.—Card party, R.S.A. Hall, by Chas; Begg and Co.'s staff. June 18.—Carnival in Wilson Hall, arranged by Messrs Penrose's staff. June 19.—Card party in Wilson, Hall, arranged by staff of Andrew Lees, Ltd. June 19. —Dugout to be stocked and staffed by Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd. June 20.—Sweet stall outside shop to be conducted by Penrose's staff. June 21.—Dance and variety entertainment, Crawford Lounge, by Arthur Barnett's staff. June 21.—Dugout to be stocked and staffed by Chas. Begg and Co. June 25.—Dugout to be stocked and staffed by Arthur Barnett's. June 28.--Baby photo competition, Wilson Hall, arranged by staff of Hannah's, Ltd. This cancels the baby show originally planned by the staff of this house. June 30.—Final of tug-o'-war competitions. , The staffs of the various trading batiks in Dunedin are combining to hold a carnival oh Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights "of, this week in the old King's Theatre building in Dowling street. This carnival will be along lines similar to the All Sports Carnival which recently comgleted a season in the Garrison Hall, very endeavour is being exerted to make the carnival an outstanding success, and the army of workers behind it has been tackling the project with the greatest of enthusiasm-
