UNITED WOMEN'S MOVEMENT

At the last meeting of the United Women's Movement a letter was received from the Acting Minister of Health (Mr W. E, Parry) in reply to a letter asking if something could be done by the Government in reference to protective foods for children. MiParry stated that "this matter is now receiving the attention of the Government." There followed a discussion on the Borstal Institutions. It was feit that there should be a half-way house conducted en the lines of a hospital, where girls and boys could be treated by people who had been +rained for the work. * „ A class in the supervision and man-' agement of canteens will be held in the home science building on Wednesday evening. A new series of lectures and demonstrations will begin on the evening of June 11. Next Wednesday the Roslyn branch of the Lady Galway Guild, which meets in St. John's Sdoolroom. will hold a demonstration. Garments. quilts sleeping bags. etc.. made during the last three weeks will be on view, and at the same time members will be at work so thai visitors will be able to see the materials required for making the articles Members of the League of Nations Union and all others interested in international affairs will have an excellent opportunity of revising their knowledge of historical facts on Monday, when Dr J. R. Elder, professor of history at Otago University, will speak on ' " Great Peace Treaties" in the Public Trust Board Room.
