ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE

APPEAL FROM ENGLAND An appeal for light grey gloves and scarves to match the uniforms of members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Birmingham has been received from Mrs J. Garrett, 7 Barnfield road, Bromsgrove, 'Worcestershire. Mrs Garrett is the matron of a girls’ school in Birmingham, and has herself “ stood by ” for 430 hours sine* the war began. She writes that the members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, who have to turn out in the thick of the bombing raids, are very short of comforts. Their services are given voluntarily, and they have to buy everything themselves. “Many of our members,” Mrs Garrett writes, “ have been killed in the raids, and we are proud of the hundreds of them who have stood up to so much.”
