DAMAGED CHURCHES
QUESTION OF REPAIRS POSITION IN BRITAIN (Rcc. 8 p.m.) RUGBY, Maj 20. A discussion on questions relating to the repair of war-damaged churches between the War Damage Commission and representatives of the various Christian denominations and interests has resulted in the setting up of a Christian Churches Main Committee composed of two representatives of each of the 10 bodies represented at the negotiations Expenditure was authorised on temporary repairs up to £IOO in (he case of each individual building, on condition that the work carried out was reasonably necessary as a temporary measure and that the cost was reasonable. The cost of de-‘ molition work carried out for the safety of the public will rank for payment as temporary repairs.
