RAID ON HELIGOLAND NAVAL BASE BOMBED (Rec. 2 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. R.A.F. planes made a I'aid on Heligoland, flying low and machinegunning and bombing the naval base, causing great damage and confusion. Attacks were also made on shipping off the Dutch and French coasts, and two ships were sunk off St. Nazaire, where the docks were bombed. ENEMY RAIDS ON BRITAIN ONLY MINOR ACTIVITY (Rec. 2 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. There was only minor enemy activity over Britain last night, says an Air Ministry communique. A few bombs were dropped in places on the coast, but casualties and damage were very small.
