/ NUMBER OF RUMANIANS SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES BUCHAREST. May 12. It is officially stated that in the measures for checking subversive activities throughout the country 360 Iron Guards, including 120 law students, were arrested. A military court sentenced 225 to imprisonment for life. General Antonescu has threatened to close the universities throughout Rumania unless the students denounce the anti-German agitators among them. Students singing forbidden patriotic songs on Saturday interrupted Rumanian National Day celebrations. Bread Decree Cancelled Riots throughout the country following the introduction of two breadless days each week have induced the Government to cancel the decree. The food situation l in Greece is alarming. - German efforts to rally the anti-Metaxas pro-German party have been unsuccessful. There have been numerous arrests in Budapest restaurants for spreading or listening to rumours.
